2021 Goal Recap

2021 goal recapIf you have been following along over the years, then you know that the year end brings us to another  goal setting SERIES. This year I am switching things up and it will be a two part series. In this post I will review my wins for 2021 as well as the areas I fell short. In part two I will review my goal setting process and offer a FREE workbook for download.  I will also share my 2022 goals and #2022Feels.  If you are interested you can check our my full January 2021 Goal post here.

This year my my core feeling focus was;  community, Connection, Freedom.  My word for the year has been Relationships.

I hope you follow along and we can work together to make 2022 OUR best year yet!

FIRST IS HAS TO BE SAID…..

2021 continued to be a  tough year for the world, but resilience was everywhere- if you were looking for it.  There is no denying that climate  crises  dominated making itself more evident by the day.

But like with subsequent years 2021  has also been a year of tremendous learning and transition.

For me 2021 was supposed to be about Community, Connection, Freedom, and Relationships.  I happy to report I was able to achieve my objectives, perhaps not always as I originally set out, but sometime the detours get you where you want to go faster.

2021 GOAL:

FITNESS GOALS:

Community  Races and fitness classes  returned to so I was able to achieve this In person rather  than virtual.

Connection & Freedom:  For years I have wanted to incorporate yoga into my fitness routine but could never find  the time.   I finally figured out I can replace my post workout stretching with short yoga sequences raging from 5-15 minutes depending on how much time  I have.  I prefer Yoga with Adriene,  her page makes it super simple with practices organized by length and format.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Community & Connection:   I don’t think  I can claim to have  deepened personal connections as that seems rather lofty.  I  can confirm that I spent more time with friends and family this year.

Freedom: – My goal was to read 14 books, half of which would be for enjoyment.  I am happy to report that although I fell shy at  11 books  they were all for enjoyment.

FUN GOALS

2021 feelsCommunity– Rather than create an online book group, I chose to feature my process in a Instagram story  highlight.  I chose this method because It it would require less of a time commitment – freeing me up for more reading.  I was worried that it wouldn’t meet the community objective, but thankfully my online community was game and stepped up to  engage recommending  books and other authors.

Connection: I want to spend more time with my other interest groups. I was able to spend time with my Mama friends throughout the last half of the year, and rather than spend time with my fellow “oilers” I found a new connection in a running community that was able to gather regularly outdoors.

Freedom – this was kind of a gimme goal pretty easily achievable through the spring and summer months.  We explored the sunshine coast three times this year and even completed a hike to the Skookumchuck narrows.  We visited many local beaches and parks including Whiterock, Tsawwassen, and Vancouver.

BUSINESS GOALS

Community-   I alluded to the fact that Adrian and I might start a project together, and although I am not yet ready to talk about it i am happy to report that progress has been made- even if its at a snails pace. ????

Connection:  bit of a flop here, I got up to about 20 pages but stalled trying to translate from German, plus there was the whole planning a wedding thing . Hoping to come back to this in the new year.

I  found an online community that engages and supports each other which has been transformative  for me in so many ways.

FINANCIAL GOALS

Connection:   I wanted to be more  connected to my financial situation and review this with Adrian regularly.  Honestly we didn’t really do this , we did make some small steps but we still have a long way to go here.

Freedom – I wanted to become more financially informed, this 100% did not happen.

CLOSING OUT 2021…….

2021 was considerably better than 2020  and i am cautiously optimistic that 2022 will be better  yet.  As we close the door on another year of Fitness, Family, and Fun, we  open another door to a New Year of possibility.

Wishing you a Joyous New Year!
